Presentation Overview:
The wide variety of systems available in modified bituminous roofing offer flexibility in meeting specific building and regional needs. It can also be overwhelming at times to understand the technologies and assemblies, and where they best apply. This presentation will provide participants with a general understanding of the components and system configurations available for flame-free, adhered, and torch applied roofing. Practical guidance on detailing and installation practices will be provided, along with region-specific suggestions and tips for the challenging Manitoba building and climate conditions.
Speaker Bio:
Amy Frank
Amy is the Architectural and Technical Representative for IKO Commercial, serving Manitoba and Thunder Bay. With over two decades in the building industry, including roles in building supply, design-build, and architectural design, she brings a deep understanding of construction from concept to completion. In her role at IKO, she supports designers and contractors in the specification and application of roofing systems, building envelope membranes, and insulation products.
Amy is an architectural drafter by trade and has expanded her expertise through CSC and Passive House Canada programs. Her professional interests include wood-frame construction, historical buildings, and construction specifications. She is proud to be an active member of the Manitoba Building Envelope Council, Manitoba Women in Construction, and Construction Specifications Canada.
Known for her creative problem-solving, Amy prioritizes outcomes that support long-term durability and value for the building. Outside of work, she enjoys time with family, working on her old house, making miniatures, and crocheting and sewing.
