Presentation Overview:

This presentation will delve into the best practices for installing Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS). As EIFS offers unmatched benefits in energy efficiency and aesthetic flexibility, this session will be focusing on each critical component to ensure a high-performance building envelope.

We will cover the essential steps from substrate preparation through to the finish coat, emphasizing the importance of proper installation techniques for transition membranes, flashings, and liquid-applied weather resistive barriers. Attention will be given to geometrically defined insulation, basecoat application, mesh integration, and achieving an esthetic finish.

By adhering to these best practices, attendees will learn how to enhance energy efficiency and durability for the building envelope. Our aim is to equip professionals with the knowledge to optimize EIFS installations, ultimately leading to superior building performance and sustainability.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the critical role substrate preparation, transition membranes and flashings have EIFS performance.

  • Identify best practices for building envelope performance with regards to a continuously applied weather resistive barrier.

  • Learn techniques for critical details, such as proper encapsulation of the insulation with basecoat and mesh integration.
