Presentation Overview:
This session will review the factors that govern insulation and cladding requirements in the Manitoba Building Code. This includes how Spatial Separation, Building Height and Non-Combustible Construction and related standards address fire spread from building to building and on the exterior of a building.
Speaker Bios:
Geoff Mikolayenko, City of Winnipeg
Geoff Mikolayenko, Eng. L., C.E.T., CBCO, is currently the City of Winnipeg’s Administrator of Commercial Inspections. He is a certified engineering technologist and graduated in 1993 with a diploma in Structural Engineering Technology from Red River College. In 2018 he achieved his Specified Scope of Practice Licensee from the Engineering Geoscientists of Manitoba as a licensed practitioner. He has 30 years of experience within the industry.
In the spring of 2018 Geoff took on his present role as commercial inspections administrator. He is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the Commercial Building Inspection services, encompassing construction methods, bylaw compliance, and correction of dangerous conditions involving electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building, fire and life safety systems.
Shawn Krenz, City of Winnipeg
Shawn Krenz, C.E.T. is currently the City of Winnipeg’s Senior Building Plan Examiner. He is a certified engineering technologist and graduated in 1998 with a diploma in Engineering Design and Construction Technology from Red River College. He has 26 years of experience within the industry.
In the fall of 2018 Shawn took on his present role as Senior Building Plan Examiner. He is responsible for the leadership of the Commercial Building Plan Examiners, encompassing Part 3 (Fire Protection, Occupant Safety and Accessibility) review, including construction methods and bylaw compliance in regards to fire and life safety systems.
