What is going on in the world of air barriers and airtightness in North America - with Ryan Dalgleish

Presentation Overview:

This presentation will look at some of the industry advancements and tools available in the world of airtightness that can assist the design and construction community to improve energy efficiency and reduction in moisture transport within the building envelope.

We will review Items such as energy and moisture modelling, completed and upcoming research projects, whole building airtightness testing and some tips and tricks to incorporate into your specifications and construction management.

Learning Objectives:

• 1.       Through a review of the air barrier calculator, determine the energy and financial savings obtained by higher level of airtightness and how it impacts the amount of moisture moving into and out of the wall assembly.
• 2.       Analyze the results of recent research projects such as adhesion and fastener penetrations and new ways to assess air leakage.
• 3.       Review whole building airtightness test methods, certification programs and how to use free tools in energy modelling.
• 4.       Identify some tips to incorporate in project specifications and review key recurring field installation issues.

Speaker Bio:

Ryan Dalgleish

Chief Operating Officer, Building Professionals

Ryan has been involved in the building enclosure and building performance areas of construction for over 20 years. Ryan is an educator and developer of building enclosure education and credentialing programs for building sub-trades and is part of the Quality Assurance management team for field air barrier installation across North America.

Ryan is a certified Net Zero building instructor and is a frequent speaker at various technical events and conferences. Ryan obtained credentials in Adult Education, Leadership from the University of Manitoba and has been mentored and trained by some of the best building scientist's in the world.
