Melanie Chatfield, P.Eng., LEED AP
Energy Management Engineer
Originally from the United Kingdom, Melanie builds energy models to assess the energy consumption of a building design. As a senior energy modeler in the Stantec Winnipeg office, she understands the importance of including energy modeling early in the design timeline to meet the performance goals of her clients. Melanie is a mechanical engineer and energy modeler who shares her expertise with Stantec’s Sustainable and High Performance Building services in addition to multi-discipline project teams across the company. Melanie’s experience has led her to work on many exciting projects such as Dryden Wastewater Treatment Plant, the first LEED Silver certified WWTP in Canada and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located in Golden, Colorado which achieved LEED Platinum. Melanie has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2008 and is a member of the CaGBC’s Experienced Modelers List.
Afaf Azzouz, M.Sc., E.I.T., LEED Green Associate
Buildings Energy Engineer-In-Training
Afaf Azzouz is a buildings energy engineer (EIT) at Stantec. Complementary to her interdisciplinary background in Sustainable Engineering (MSc) and Architectural Engineering (BSc), she has 4 years work experience in energy modeling, passive design and LCA. Her work entails identifying energy conservation measures of educational, commercial and residential projects. Afaf published her research about life-cycle carbon optimizations for a UK-based office in Energy and Buildings. She also helped design the first Egyptian 100% solar-powered, earth-constructed workers’ village. Throughout her career she pursued volunteering, educational and professional experiences in Canada, Germany, China, UK, Kenya, Egypt and California.
