Thanks to all who attended the January 31st Workshop titled Building Better Buildings. It is always a pleasure to speak with Building Envelope Chapters across North America and specifically to the Manitoba Chapter because of the long history of energy efficiency interest and initiatives in the province.
I would be interested in any feedback or discussion from the session, specifically, I know I hit pretty hard about the need to respect industry science regarding proper drainage behind stucco facades i.e. two layers of building paper or a drainage space such as offered by the proprietary EFIS systems. What do you think it will take for the housing industry in Winnipeg to adopt the best practices guidelines defined by all manufacturers or stucco related systems and products? Who is up for driving that change?

A PDF of the presentation will be posted shortly.

    Hello Gord

Enjoyed you workshop in Winnipeg recently.  You talked about perm ratings for building paper and WRB.  I am wondering if there should be any concern about perm rating in a complete wall assembly with OSB, 2" of Styrofoam SM and tyvek.  I"m building a house now and I'm planning on doing dense packed cellulose and Airtight Drywall Aproach.  Should I be concerned about moisture in the wall assembly and it being able to dry?
