The energy performance of Passive House buildings demand a rigorous and scientific approach to design and construction.  Ross Elliott will present an introduction to Passive House design fundamentals and share his experience with the Passive House approach to construction.  More details to follow.

Ross Elliott will engage attendees in a more comprehensive discussion of the Passive House standard and its related building science during this full day workshop.  Applications will primarily focus on Ross's experience with residential singles, attached and mid-ride buildings, along with some discussion and examples of how Passive House can be integrated into larger buildings.

Speaker Biography
Inspiring owners, builders and designers to create the most energy efficient homes possible, Ross' expertise in sustainable housing spans over thirty years.  Trained as an energy auditor in 1979, he knows green building from the ground up, having spent a decade on the jobsite as a Licensed Journeyman Carpenter, and another seven years running how own construction business.  He established Homesol in 1999, providing energy evaluation, consulting & design services to clients throughout North America. Ross is a Certified Passive House Consultant and a LEED-Accredited Professional.  He is a Certified Energy Evaluator for ENERGY STAR and R-2000 and a qualified Air Systems & Radiant Hydronic Design Technician.  He is also a Director of Passive Buildings Canada and a past Director of EnerQuality Corporation.

Ross has provided research and training for several major organizations including Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Natural Resources Canada and Ontario First Nations Technical Services, and he has presented at numerous events including the US Passive House Conference, Affordable Comfort and GreenBuild.  He is involved in several leading-edge projects including the construction of his own rural home in McDonalds Corners, where he has built a unique soap-bubble-insulated greenhouse.
