Presentation Overview:

This presentation will address below-grade waterproofing and dampproofing as they relate to building design and detailing. Topics to cover will include: The distinction between waterproofing and dampproofing; The different types of materials and insulation that can be utilized and their benefits and limitations; Environmental considerations for applications (cold weather, wet weather, hot weather); Structural considerations (building movement and its impact on materials); The importance of design in relation to detailing footing to wall junctions and site drainage, and proper membrane protection.

Mike Washnuk

Technical Representative, at SOPREMA


Mike Washnuk is a Certified Technical Representative (CTR) for SOPREMA.  Mike has been a manufacturer’s representative in the Winnipeg market for over 10 years and has worked with product suppliers relevant to building enclosures.  Mike has been working at SOPREMA for the past four years and during that time has gained insight into important design and installation considerations for below-grade waterproofing.
